Kamlesh comes from a village called Jhutawad in Ujjain district of Madhya Pradesh. As a sensitive young boy, he came to the villages of Kanpur for Gramya Manthan in the year 2018. He was concerned about the lack of education and pained by the potential of young people like himself being wasted. He was lucky to have a friend-mentor in Nagesh who was also an alumni of Youth Alliance and started Mera Gaon Meri Duniya. After coming to Gramya Manthan as a first year college student, Kamlesh found what really mattered to him in life - it was being of service to the world. From then on, he decided that after his graduation he has to go back to his villages and inspire children and youth to live well and find the opportunities that make them grow.
He volunteered with Youth Alliance to co-create another edition of Gramya Manthan. And finally in 2020 he went back to Jhutawad. Today along with Nagesh, Vasudha and other committed people, Kamlesh has cultivated a supportive ecosystem in 20 villages through Mera Gaon Meri Duniya.
50% of the participants over the last 14 editions of the program have committed fulltime to the social change work across issues like gender, health, environment, education and so on. They work in different geographies - rural, urban and tribal. Support youth like Kamlesh to find their lifepath in service to society.
