Reshma (name changed) comes from a difficult socio-economic background and grew up in a migrant family in Delhi. She did her schooling from a government school. Growing up she was burdened by challenges in her neighbourhood that affected her decision making. When she came to Gramya Manthan in 2019, for the first time she found herself in a space that listened to her, that accepted her and appreciated her gifts. She immediately began to feel the healing effects of such a space on her life. As her horizon expanded, she found that unlike physical health, mental health is completely ignored. Even when it plays such an important role in helping an individual live a good life. She found courage to start her own enterprise focussed on mental health services in 2019, however her path was laid with hurdles. Financial stresses, health of parents, loneliness of entrepreneurship, conflict with team members, and overwhelm of work and what not. Through this period, she found support in having regular 1-1 conversations with members of the Youth Alliance team. That enabled her to take steps to clarify her needs, focus on small wins and be supported by someone. Even as she supported hundreds of people through her work.
The conversations are typically 90 mins long with highly experienced members of the YA team and are totally customised to the needs of the individual.
Cost Breakup:
Every month the Youth Alliance team spends 10% of their time having 16+ mentoring sessions, bringing the cost to Rs 2500 per session.
